Storm Damage

In December 1991 Cyclone Kina struck the Fijian island of Waya causing wide spread destruction.  The school building was blown away. The building sat upon the pilings that you see here.  Only the concrete patio and building foundation remains.
The local library was flooded and nearly the entire inventory of books was ruined beyond use.
Without aid there would have been many years before the library could be reestablished and untold numbers of children would have had to grow up without this precious resource.
Folks pitching in to unload books.
Here you see school administrators examing relief supplies.
Words for the World was able to send replacement books because of generous sponsor contributions.
